Interesting Facts
Using your graphic organizer from class, write an informational paragraph (5-6 sentences) about what intersting facts you've learned about your animal. What do you want your classmates to remember about your animal? Be sure to type quality sentences, using the correct grammatical marks. You will be graded on a 4-point scale for this post.

Swordfish have saber-like snouts. Eyes of swordfish are surrounded by light blue rings. Their backwards curving fins help them swim faster. They only eat close to the shore. Isn't that weird? They fight with other animals A LOT.
ReplyDeleteThe Macaroni penguin has a name from a popular British hairstyle! Penguins are birds that can't fly!! That is why their wings look stiff! For swimming! There are 17 species of penguins. Penguins can spend time at sea for months!

The vulture's unique adaptation is it's extremely long wings. With a 12 foot wingspan these wings make the vulture fly beautifully. It's bald head, as I mentioned before, is an adaptation. That means no feathers to keep clean. The New World Vulture's amazing sight is an important adaptation. For eample, a California condor can spot a dying deer a mile away.
ReplyDeleteMy animal is the Cheetah. They have a very intresting fact. Cheetahs usally have 2-5 babies but sometimes they have 8. Now thats A LOT for a mammal!
ReplyDeleteMy animal is a hooded Seal. They make a big bump on there head then they let the bump go and that makes there tonug blow up to make a ball. Did you know that Hooded Seals are many different color? Hooded seals are black and white the other way is white skin and black dots.
ReplyDeleteDo you want to know a fact that I learned? Bats are not actually blind like some people think. They have great eyesight! Sometimes bats use this nifty resource called echolocation. Bats do this by making a high-pitched sound. Since bats also have good hearing, another bat can hear the sound!
ReplyDeleteTuna are extremely fast. Unlike other fish, tunas skin ranges from pink to red! The biggest tuna is 20 feet long! Tuna can sometimes eat their own predators.
ReplyDeleteThe Bush Baby has MANY intresting facts! I'm going to tell you a few! Bush Babies have a life span of about 16 years. Plus, its tail is bigger than its body! The tail is 6-16 inches. Also, the Bush Baby's ears make up most of the body. If there was no tail and ears on the Bush Baby it would be 4 or 3 inches. That's short!
ReplyDeleteKomodo dragons have alot of interesting facts, and here are some of them. A komodo dragon flicks its tongue in the air to catch its prey's scent. When the dragon finds the prey, they don't chase it, but instead they wait for it, and lunge when it comes near. A komodo dragon swallows prey whole. "Dragons" are diurnal, they prefer to hunt in daytime. Komodo dragons love rotten meat, but will eat any meat even if it isn't rotten. These lizards live to only about 50 years, but most get eaten as a baby. "Dragons" are nearly extinct, there are only about 5,000 left! This is because of poaching and loos of habitat. There are only 52 species of komodo dragons, too. A komodo dragon eats nearly 80 percent of its body weight. For example, if there was a 1,000 pound komodo dragon it would eat around 800 pounds each day. The komodo dragon's scientific name is Varanus Komodeonsis, and is classified as a reptile. A komodo dragon can run about 11 miles per hour. The large lizard's teeth are serrated, which means jagged. A komodo dragon is also known as the komodo moniter, king of the moniters, or moniter lizards.

One interesting fact about camels is that camels have nostrils that open and close to pretect them. Another interesting fact about camels is that their mouth is extreamly tough so they can eat thorny plants. Last interesting fact about camels is that they have long eyelashes and busy eyebrows to protect their eyes from the desert sand and things.
ReplyDeleteThe king cobra has dozen of interesting facts. lets start with the basics, a group of cobra is called Quiver. This cobra is the only snake that builds a nest for their youngs. The incubation is 2-3 months.WOW! I would of been starving if I had to sit on my eggs for 2-3 months.
ReplyDeleteMoles are small insectivours mammals. Did you know moles have a over population. Thats why people are killing them. Moles have very poor eye sight. Did you know moles have so poor eye sight they see with there nose.
ReplyDeleteFemale glow worms attract male glow worms with a light that they emit from their lower abdomen. The light producing segments consist of a layer of protein called luciferin, backed by a reflector layer of tiny chrystals. Light is produced, but very little heat.

to predators not to eat them because they are poisonous. The glow can also attract prey.
Did you know that sea urchin eggs are used for medical research? They could help find a cure for some terrible diseases. There are a lot of different kinds of sea urchins. There are over 200 species that come in different shapes and sizes all over the world! Even though there are so many different kinds, many think that sea urchins could become extinct. Pollution and dredging of the ocean floor disrupt their habitat and they die. DON'T POLLUTE, SAVE THE SEA URCHINS!
ReplyDeleteThe Spitting Cobra's hood is made up of flaps of skin attached to long ribs. The reason the Spitting Cobra started spitting in the first place is because they cohabitated with many antelope. They spit to warn the antelope so they didn't get trampled. Some Spitting Cobras play dead by rolling on their back with their mouth open to defend themselves.
ReplyDeleteA hedgehog is an animal with different abilities.It can be the color brown or white.Hedgehogs emit a pig-like grunt.That's why they are called hedgehogs.There are at least 15 types of hedgehogs.Their big diet ar worms, centipides,snails, mice, frogs, lizards, and snakes.
ReplyDeleteCheetahs live in Asia. I don't really know why because there is BARLEY any grassfields! I've tried searching it up on the computer but it won't tell. I'll have to ask Christine.
